My 2 year old and 4 year old son LOVE this book!! When my son is reading to us, this keeps the 2 year old entertained。 Great book!

We have read this book so many times and have popped the dots so many times that we had to duct tape the book and pages。 LOL。 The book is pretty heavy and not really built for the beating that kids can put on this kind of book。 But, regardless of the structure of the book, the book is great! My son loves to pop the dots over and over and over as we read。

One of TJ's favorites, and I love the concept! Unfortunately some of the poppers didn't work great from the start (did we just get unlucky?) which was frustrating for him, and others wore out from overuse, which is expected but still disappointing。 One of TJ's favorites, and I love the concept! This is book won’t win any awards for its illustrations or text。 Don’t get me wrong, the pictures are cute but not staggeringly so。 And the text is pretty basic; the lyrics to Old McDonald are pretty common in most child-friendly homes。 What encourages Bug to read this book again and again, are the poppers or buttons。 These raised bubbles allow Bug to count the animals on each page while teaching him not to forget a single one or re-count his favorite。 Once the buttons are popped down, they don’ This is book won’t win any awards for its illustrations or text。 Don’t get me wrong, the pictures are cute but not staggeringly so。 And the text is pretty basic; the lyrics to Old McDonald are pretty common in most child-friendly homes。 What encourages Bug to read this book again and again, are the poppers or buttons。 These raised bubbles allow Bug to count the animals on each page while teaching him not to forget a single one or re-count his favorite。 Once the buttons are popped down, they don’t pop back up until they’re pushed from the other side, naturally setting-up each page。 We were counting before but we weren’t physically counting, if that makes any sense。 We were reciting the numbers 1-15 (or there abouts) but without actually counting anything。 In the last couple weeks, Bug had picked up this book multiple times and this last weekend actually begun counting things he sees。 It just clicked somehow。 It’s so exciting and I’m sure that Poke-A-Dot: Old McDonald Has a Farm has helped with this transition。Story Tips: I flip through real quick and make sure all the buttons on the left pages have been pressed down before we read。 Sometimes Bug flips through by himself and presses them willy-nilly cause awkward counting moments later on。I need more! There are six Poke-A-Dot books: 10 LITTLE MONKEYS, AN ALPHABET EYE SPY, Poke A Dot Goodnight, Animals , WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?, and WHO’S IN THE OCEAN?。 I’d have to argue that Old McDonald looks like the best and the cutest。 But check them out for yourself at: http://www。innovativekids。com/shop/19。。。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This is a cute book that introduces, or helps reinforce, counting。 This would be a great book for kinesthetic learners, as the reader is supposed to tap down on the plastic dots (which make a popping noise) each time they count the animals。 The book counts backward from 10 to 1, and can be sung to the tune of Old MacDonald's Farm。 This is a cute book that introduces, or helps reinforce, counting。 This would be a great book for kinesthetic learners, as the reader is supposed to tap down on the plastic dots (which make a popping noise) each time they count the animals。 The book counts backward from 10 to 1, and can be sung to the tune of Old MacDonald's Farm。 。。。more

For 3-6 year olds, this book delights children, not only for the catchy Old McDonald's Farm lyrics but each page has dots to push to count animals and the dots make a snapping noise when pushed。 My grandchild loves this。 There are 10 cows, 9 pigs, 8 chickens, 7 sheep, 6 ducks, 5 horses, 4 goats, 3 kittens, 2 dogs, and one rooster, all with the sounds they make within the words to the old children's classic song。 Hardboard pages with pictures that you can talk about, as there are other animals su For 3-6 year olds, this book delights children, not only for the catchy Old McDonald's Farm lyrics but each page has dots to push to count animals and the dots make a snapping noise when pushed。 My grandchild loves this。 There are 10 cows, 9 pigs, 8 chickens, 7 sheep, 6 ducks, 5 horses, 4 goats, 3 kittens, 2 dogs, and one rooster, all with the sounds they make within the words to the old children's classic song。 Hardboard pages with pictures that you can talk about, as there are other animals such as birds, frogs, butterflies, the farmer, and buildings。 。。。more

This book is absolutely AMAZING for children 4 and under。 My Baby Rhyme Time group had so much fun poking in the dots to count how many animals there were。 Poke-a-dot is great for children who are tactile learners。 Fabulous for Baby/Preschool storytime

My son just received this book for his second birthday, and he loves it。 He has been very interested in counting lately, so he can spend ages poking all of the dots and kinda-sorta counting the animals。 The one downside is that because of all the poke-a-dots the book is thick and very heavy。 My child struggles a bit when trying to carry it, and because of the size it's not convenient to carry around in the diaper bag or use for entertainment in the stroller。 Still, it's a good one to stash in th My son just received this book for his second birthday, and he loves it。 He has been very interested in counting lately, so he can spend ages poking all of the dots and kinda-sorta counting the animals。 The one downside is that because of all the poke-a-dots the book is thick and very heavy。 My child struggles a bit when trying to carry it, and because of the size it's not convenient to carry around in the diaper bag or use for entertainment in the stroller。 Still, it's a good one to stash in the car or use for entertainment at restaurants。 It's just so creative and fun!ETA March 2016: My sixteen-month-old daughter just discovered this book and is OBSESSED。 She goes into her brother's room at least once a day and shouts until I take it off of the bookshelf for her and then she plops down and pops and pops and pops。。。my husband jokes that she has to "get her fix。" Ha!ETA January 2017: L just rediscovered this book when we moved her into her new bedroom and shifted some books from her brother's room into hers。 She loves "Farm book!" and has asked for it nightly for a week。 She loves talking about all of the animals and what they are doing, and popping all the bubbles, of course。ETA March 2020: This book has gotten so much use in our house that the cover has completely fallen off。 Now F (almost 2) is totally into it and has spent her past few car rides occupied by popping the dots。 She likes when I help her count all the animals。 。。。more

This is a great interactive book that will keep any child's attention! Who doesn't like bubble wrap? Well, it's the same idea, and it's a great one!
